Bellatrix Lestrange The real wicked witch.
It was a cold and damp morning. Had there not been the quiet clatter of thestrals outside her bedroom window Bellatrix may not have woken up that morning. All was still in the wizarding world, but as soon as her eyes open that all changed. Her mind raced and it went back to the time when she had performed the Unbreakable Vow between Snape and Draco. It was unclear, even to her, why that memory was the first on her mind that morn, but nonetheless there it sat. She mulled it over silently in bed, as not to wake up Rodolphus, but soon had to get up. She went and sat in her study. She loved it in there. All the books were twice her age and smelt of their travels. When she was little she could spend hours in this room doing nothing more than looking at the old pieces of literature. She tried her best to relax but it would not come.
She exited her study and went to her sitting room. She found the most comfortable chair, her dad's favorite as well, and put herself there. She could not shake the memory. It wasn't like it was a bad memory or anything, but it was taking over her mind. It was consuming her. However, once you've spent fourteen years in solitary confinement you tend to dwell on thoughts for as long as possible. For a long stretch of her life her thoughts were the only thing she had to keep her company so it makes since that she now cannot make them go away.
She decided on a plan. She would go to the school and see the man about which her dream was focusing and that would put her at ease. She could only hope. Why must it be him though? She could not bare the thought of her having to spend time with this rat of a man. Honestly, he was her most disliked of Death Eaters. There was something about his shifty eyes that made her feel like she was being lied to and lying was something Bellatrix Lestrange was very used to. She was, after all, a master Occlumens. Of course, so was he. That was probably the only thing they had in common and the fact that they both taught a student the art only made them more alike. She taught her nephew; Draco and he taught the Potter filth. It was fitting that these two were enemies.
It wasn’t long before Bellatrix had herself dressed and ready to go. She sported an elegant purple dress that consisted of a corset top and a long flowing bottom. She was the epitome of pureblood beauty, except of course for her now hollowed face and her unruly mane of curls, however she still had just enough freedom to battle if it came to that. Somehow she thought it might if she was around this man for too long a period.
A loud pop resonated through the entrance hall of Hogwarts, her old abode. Once she appeared her dress seemed to land behind her, like it had a life of its own. She pondered where the Headmaster might be at this early of an hour. There was the dungeons, or maybe the great hall, but it was most likely he was in his office seeing as it wasn’t even breakfast yet. She decided on his office, having to fight the urge to return to the dungeons where she had spent so much time all those years ago. She longed to see her old home away from home. She held strong however and made her way to said office. Along the way however she encountered Peeves, the school poltergeist. He was carrying a statue, ready to hit some poor unsuspecting student with it without a doubt. He saw her and she saw him. Their eyes, both being glassed over and empty, connected and Bellatrix gave him a serpent-like hiss. He instantly backed off and took the warning for what it was. Even Peeves the Poltergeist knew better than to mess with Bellatrix Lestrange.
It wasn’t long before she reached the statue that led to the Headmaster’s office and as she arrived she encountered another Hogwarts annoyance, Filch. She had heard of this man through stories from Draco, but had never seen him. She wasn’t impressed.
“Filth, give me the password for this statue.” Her tone was demanding and she had obviously mispronounced his name. She didn’t care. She wouldn’t normally even talk to him because of him being a squib. It wasn’t until she rested her hand on her hip, where Filch knew her wand was located. He spoke in a shaky voicem like a scared child and gave her the password.
She entered the hall to which the Headmaster’s quarters were and reached the door quickly.
“Housekeeping,” she said in a high-pitched shrill that sounded almost like a child that was possessed. Her choice of words could not have been more perfect.

The week had consisted of dealing with issues that Severus had thought were already resolved. However having to go through the process of resolving certain things that stemmed from those issues, his assumption had been proven incorrect. Something that he didn't exactly enjoy, since he was as much a perfectionist as any other if not slightly more. It was however something that he seemed to have to deal with so much more often these day as the new Headmaster of Hogwarts. Obviously not one of the upsides of the new post, but he wasn't going to be brought down by something so trivial. Having been through so much more than what he was dealing with now, he doubted that there was anything that could stump him. Of course there was one thing, something that had been playing over in his dreams night and night again, but he would deal with that when the time came, if the time ever came. Of course if he played his cards right he doubted it ever would, yet he took something from learning that things were never completed when you considered it so, and it was that anything was possible. Even if you planned it differently.
Severus was walking on the upper most part of his office. He was trying to find a book that he knew the deceased Headmaster to have and he was certain that he had watched the old man make his way up here with said book in hand, when he was still alive, and return with nothing in hand. He wasn't naive enough to believe the the Headmaster hadn't sought the book out again and then moved it, but on the chance that he hadn't Severus was going to look for it. If he couldn't find the book there it would mean that he would have to make a plan to find another copy and that book wasn't something that one could come across that easily. Which in turn meant more work, and dealing with the Dark Lord, Death Eaters, Professors, parents, and children going through changes that he really didn't care for, well, it didn't leave much time on his plate. Part of the reason he was up so early in the morning. It seemed the only time he was able to catch up on things, the early morn and the late night.
The only thing that he was grateful for at the moment was the silence. In these moments he had time to contemplate everything that he was doing and see if everything was in deed going according to plan. He had time to look closer at certain plans, look for possible flaws and fix them if that was required. If required he had time to consider offers and ideas that professors and parents had proposed to him and he had asked them for patience as he made his decision. Since it was only the difficult ones that required more time. Severus also had time to go over conversations that he had had with everyone during the day and decipher what was going on during the conversation, look deeper into the meaning of what the person said, if there was any at all. Finally it was a time for him to rest, since it seemed sleep wasn't something he could count on anymore.
Needless to say when the silence and solitude of his office was broke by the unmistakable shrill skrieking of one Bellatrix Lestrange, it was met with annoyance. Though Severus wasn't dumb enough to step forward into her presence with that reflecting in his eyes and manner. He didn't doubt that there would be sparring between the two of them. They hardly got through a conversation without Bellatrix threatening him and Severus scowling at her with the deepest hate reflecting in his eyes, but to start the conversation off on that note wouldn't be the best choice. Placing one of the books that he had pulled out to glance over as he searched for the other, he made his way down the staircase, stopping at the top to look at Bellatrix in his office. It was from this position that he replied.
"I'm certain the castle's housekeeping is done by those that wish to remain invisible," referring of course to the house-elves, as he started making his way down the rest of the staircase. "Bellatrix, to what do I owe this surprise," his tone reflected nothing, for the moment at least.

Bellatrix could do nothing but snarl her nose when she heard the voice of Severus Snape. Her extreme suspicion of this man led her to do nothing, but loathe his every move, every sound and even his very presence. She was on a mission, albeit it a self-employed one, but still it was a mission. She put on her game face and once the door was opened and her facade was seen through she turned her mouth into a wicked grin. This was going to be utter hell, probably for both parties, but she would have fun either way.
"Ah Severus. I'm here to... well, to check on your progress." Her voice was as normal sounding as it had been in a very long time, but it still held that demonic high-pitched cackle effect that drove most people mad.
"I'll be following you today. Everything you do. Every move you make. Every breath you take, I will be right there beside you." Again with the wicked smile and this time it was self-satisfying. She knew this was pure torture for him and for her this was better than the strongest Crucio cast on the man.
With that Bellatrix stepped inside the office and positioned herself on the same step he stood and turned to face him. She waited for him to move and she would follow. Of course she was going to over dramatizes this, but wasn't that the point?
"Well when's breakfast then?" Bellatrix used her pretending-to-care voice. She barely ate anymore anyways. No, it was not the food she was interested in, but instead the students. She wanted to see all the new students and all the old. One in particular... Harry Potter. If she hadn't been expressly forbidden to do so she would have killed him as soon as she layed eyes on him, but instead she was going to wait. Slash that she had to wait.

His eyes merely followed the woman who's appearance had changed so much, that Severus considered it to well represent her state of her mind. A state of mind that was confused and utterly lost, living under odd delusions. Of course he didn't doubt that having to be in the presence of Dementors for all those years had had some effect on her, but he had seen it coming, her mind had been drifting well before she was sent to Azkaban. It seemed the Dementors had merely made a bad situation worse. Which wasn't a good thing, when it came to Bellatrix Lestrange. The woman had no self control, and in that there was danger. He didn't mind having the danger roaming around the valleys and streets of England, but he wasn't prepared to have a loose canon roaming around the Hogwarts grounds. The Carrow siblings were enough to deal with at the moment.
Looking at her over his hooked nose with distinct distaste now, he merely smirked at what she had to say. It was too early to play games with this woman. Why she was up so early so early in the morning in the first place was anyone's guess. However it was apparent that her attention had been shifted to him, sometime during her sleep and waking up. And had thus shoved herself on him, just like the nuisance he considered her to be. Surely she would know that he would not stand for her following him around the entire day. Even in her madness, she was able to calculate and manipulate. So there was no doubt that she knew exactly how he felt. However it was always like Bellatrix to undermined his capabilities and his own strength. It was her shortfall, at least he considered it so. Always seeing herself as the better person, duelist, what ever it was related to, she was the best. She wasn't capable of seeing the other person's capabilities. At least that was how he had always seen it.
"I'm not certain he replied," in his nonchalant tone, stepping away from her, certain not to touch her as he passed. Almost making a statement of it, as if she were unworthy to touch him. He pulled out his chair by his desk, however he did not seat himself on it. Severus merely rested his hand there then turned to gaze at the mad woman that know held presence in his office.
"What time is it that the house-elves serve breakfast at your estate?" The last three words words were emphasized, though he was quite aware that his statement would not fall on deaf ears. He didn't say anything, and he held his position for a moment or two before he seated himself on his chair, similar to the way one might think the king may take his seat on his throne. Then his voice broke the momentary silence once more.
"You will not set foot anywhere beyond the walls of this office Bellatrix." His tone had a finality to it. His statement was to be considered the last, though he doubted it to be, he wouldn't allow it to reflect anywhere else but his mind, and his mind was utterly secure from any unwanted guests.

It was true that her now untamed appearance matched her state of mind. All too well actually. She always wore the finest of clothes and still does which represents her strong aristocratic side and her devotion to ancient pureblood values. Her hair was wild and unkempt; a symbol her lack of inhibitions and lack of civility. She no longer was the tame parlor girl her mother trained her to be. It was her face however that told the most telling tale. It was hollow from years of abuse and malnutrition. Once rosy cheeks, turned pale and concave. Lines on her face became more pronounced and stood as a result of the constant torture received from Dementors.
As for her self control; it’s true she had none, but a controlled mind was a weak one. Her mind was similar to setting a hungry lion amongst a pack of small children. Yes, it’s horrid, but fourteen years of depression, torture and solitude tended to do that to a person.
Bellatrix could only match his look of distinct distaste as he looked at her. She even threw in an eyebrow raise to signify that she was so disgusted with the man in her line of vision that she was nearly confused by him. If this continued it was going to be a rather fun hellish day for the both of them. Bellatrix was nothing if not devoted however, so instead of turning around and leaving his office, like she would have loved to do, she stayed because she was determined to weed out the unworthy from the Dark Lord’s Army.
Her unworthy to touch him?! My my, how this man twisted things. If anything it was the other way around. She was the eldest of the most noble and pureblooded wizarding family in all of England. The mere mention of her name struck fear into the hearts of many. There was no one she was not worthy of touching, especially this two-bit Potions professor, who just happened to catch a lucky break. Or at least that was how she saw it.
“Breakfast is served at whatever time I demand it so, Severus.” She could not have spoken truer words. When she demanded something, either in her own estate or just about anywhere else, it was done. It was her way or torture. Simple enough.
Bellatrix could not help but laugh, both at his pitiful display of power and at his feeble attempt to threaten her. It was a shrilly laugh too; again sounding like a child possessed by a demon. It was a beautifully evil sound she made.
“Severus…” Another high-pitched maniacal laugh followed.
“What makes you think you have a choice?” As she spoke she moved closer to her disdainful comrade and took the seat across from his. It was the lesser chair, but she knew that the better witch sat in it. She crossed her legs, almost resembling some sort of lady-like poise and continued.
“You are in this position because we made it so. You are a servant of the Dark Lord, because he made it so. That is, if you truly are. Hell, you are alive because we allowed it to be. He giveth and he taketh away Severus, so I will do exactly as I please and you will have no say in it.” Her speech was slow and dramatic. She kept eye contact with him the entire time, never blinking; a little trait she picked up during her time on the inside. She wasn’t even fired up yet. That being, of course, because she wasn’t in the least bit worried about his idle threats.
Bellatrix, with her mane of curls and her corset, form-fitting, dress, leaned back in her chair as if to show that she was totally relaxed.
“So where first?”
((Just so you know I actually really like Snape's character and I love how you play him. Lol. Bella is a bitch so I have to be one to him, but no hard feelings on my end. Lol.))

In normal circumstances he would have loved to endure for as long as he could, whatever the woman had to throw at him. However it was a known fact that circumstances were no longer normal. Her presence in this school, in this office, was among the greatest acts to show how things had changed. That and the classing of children in the school. Dark wizards looking into their history for a line of magical blood and hoping not to find a trace. The use of the cruciatus curse in public, in the grounds of the school, and practiced on those that were deemed unwanted. Those that had come to the school searching for some truth as to how they were capable to do what they did. Those merely seeking to fit into another world because they no longer fitted into their own. Those trying to seek knowledge on how to better themselves and their capabilities, and even those who merely came because they had been sent. The students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was no secret to those students that their new Headmaster didn't care as to what happened to them. This was how he appeared to them as he payed no attention to their cries for help, to their outbursts against the new institution. However even Severus would not wish Bellatrix Lestrange on them. He would not wish her on his own worst enemy, especially since she had already got rid of one of them.
He took careful note of her reply look. He took careful note of her movement of her every action, but most importantly he took careful note to the words that came from her mouth. Severus wanted this over as soon as possible. Hogwarts didn't require a sadistic and immoral person roaming its corridors. There were enough to fill all of those empty space already. No, there was a reason Bellatrix was not at Hogwarts already and that was simply because she was a danger. Even if she was incapable of seeing it, the Dark Lord had not been and that was were she fell short once again. He listened as the crazed woman harped on about how he owed them for his position. Severus listened even more intently as she went on to say that she owed them his life. He couldn't help but allow his eyebrow to raise at her as he took in everything she had to say, especially the last bit as he kept her unblinking gaze.
If this were another time he would have laughed in her face. If this were another time he would have told her to take out her wand and do her worst. Her constant taunting was becoming unbearable. Though he was not going to be allowed to be taken for an idiotic fool. He had not managed to rise in the Dark Lord's ranks, because he was incapable. He had not managed to play both sides of the field, so well for years and killed Albus Dumbledore to be taken so lightly by the criminally insane. Perhaps she had become used to merely torturing those who were idiotic enough not to fight back. Those remarkably simple folk who didn't know when to keep still and when to attack. Those with no capabilities. If she believed him the sort than she was truly out of her depths, because the fact remains that Severus Snape is no bodies fool.
Careful to keep in most of the emotion, he allowed merely his annoyance and disdain to reflect in his tone as he spoke. "I know fully well that the Dark Lord giveth and the Dark Lord taketh away. I am also fully aware that I owe only him." Severus once again emphasized the last words before he continued. "I owe you nothing," he spat out the word you. "Although somewhere in your deluded mind you seem to have come to this conclusion. My capabilities are my own. This position is mine, because I took the required steps. You were not by my side Bellatrix and neither was your supposed husband. The Death Eaters do not belong to you, they belong to him and you would do well to remember your place before I accidentally happen to mention what you have dared to let slip from your mouth, to the Dark Lord himself."
Gazing at her he did just as she had done before and kept her gaze without so much as a single blink, before he leaned back in his chair again and resumed speaking. "So I suggest that you go back to your estate and order your elves to do as you will, because you will not find that same reaction here."
[[Thank you. I'm a great fan of compliments and Snape being my favourite character it means a lot when someone says I play him well. You are really good yourself.]]

Circumstances, or in other words, the events that are happening around a certain person or in a certain time; these were far from circumstances. This was a whole new environment. An environment being something that others live in that has evolved over time. That was what he world had come to. Not some petty set of circumstances that people like Severus Snape thought they couldn't change. No, this was an environment. A dark, cold and evil environment that The Dark Lord and his most loyal lieutenant built. There was no doubt to any of the Death Eaters that Bellatrix was his favorite. She held his highest position of trust because she had proved herself time and time again as his most faithful and fierce servant.
To say she was a threat to the students at Hogwarts... well that was probably about right. However, they were not on her agenda at the moment. Her being there was perfectly acceptable for this occasion simply because if anyone knew her at all they knew she was nothing if not devoted. When she began a mission nothing was going to distract her from that. Her only mission as of currently was to collect evidence leading to Snape's status as a spy and torture handle him accordingly if said evidence appeared.
"How cute. Severus trying to be indignant. However, you are wrong my dear colleague. You owe me everything. I am the one HIS most loyal lieutenant and am in his highest position of trust. Even over Lucius. This I have heard him say with his own mouth.” She paused here, dramatic effect, of course, but nonetheless it was a pause. She also emphasized the last sentence in response to his little threat of telling The Dark Lord. Her speech was mocking at first and then proud towards the end.
“Yes Severus, my mind is warped and demented, but it is as such because of the time I spent serving the greatest service to My Lord. I spent fourteen years alone in that cell and what have you done? So you killed Dumbledore. Only because of the Unbreakable Vow I cast over you. Or have you forgotten that?” Her temper was rising now. This man dare speak of accomplishments to her? She trumped him in so many ways it must have been unbearable for him, that she accomplished more in a fourteen-year stint in Azkaban than he had his entire service.
“So tell me Severus, tell me just what it is that makes you so much better than me? I would like to know what you think raises you above me in your status. I gave the better part of my life to this man and went without human contact for fourteen years all because I believed in him so. I never once lost my faith and you will do good to remember that!” She was screaming now. She would not be undermined and she would not stand for this pitiful display of a Death Eater to criticize her accomplishments.
“And just so you know, I am not returning to my estate! I am not leaving this place until I have exposed you for the spy that you are!” Again with he screaming. Needless to say she was pissed, but she did retain some semblance of civility.
“Or would you rather I bring Greyback to keep me company as I peruse these halls?” Her tone too had finality to it. Just like the one he used when he tried to get rid of her. Her threat was not an idle one either. She would have loved to go wreaking havoc on these filthy children with Greyback at her side, but they were not her focus. She would, however, if Severus did not conform to her wishes.

The fact that somehow she had come to the conclusion that their was some sort of a tangible relationship between herself and the Dark Lord was an indication of how far gone her mind was. Severus knew better than to believe that the Dark Lord was capable of love, trust and devotion. The emotions that seemed to go hand in hand when it came to how Bellatrix felt toward him. She had formed some sort of an odd fascination with a man that merely used and abused her. For the other Death Eaters it was easy to believe that she held the highest position with regards to the Dark Lord, but in all reality no one did. The man was a cruel an calculated form of a person if one could call him that. He placed the person who he could get the most out of in his highest position at that time. The way he had done with Lucius, the way he had done with worm-tail in his effort to obtain a body and the way he used Severus now to control what went on in the Hogwarts castle. Death Eaters were the easily manipulative kind, most of them so dimwitted that they were incapable of telling their mother from their father. That was were Severus differentiated from them. His mind was his own, always. He was able to look at a situation and see it for what it truly was, not for what every one else wanted him to believe. He was nobody's fool and he wished Bellatrix would stop taking him for one.
He got to his feet loosing his temper for the shortest amount of time as his fists came down upon the face of the table in a thud in an attempt to order quiet. "I don't owe you a damned thing Lestrange. You or your damned family." He took a deep breadth before he continued. "Just because I wasn't as dumb as you to go and get myself locked up in Azkaban, doesn't make me any less of a Death Eater. In fact it makes me so than any of you ignorant fools. Simply because I had the initiative to lie and deceive so that the the Dark Lord's sworn enemy took me into in arms with open arms and told me everything and informed me of everyone. I put myself into a position so that when the dark lord returned he could use me as a tool to complete his greatest task. Tell me Bellatrix what can you complete as a deranged psychopath besides scare little itty bitty muggleborns." He smirked satisfied that he had at last been able to say what he had kept in for so long. "Allow me to answer that for you Bellatrix...Absolutely nothing."
Stepping out and around his desk he made his way over to her, his cloak billowing behind him as he came to stand right behind the seat she occupied, looming over her, still holding the position of superiority. "You have something against me Bellatrix. You think me a traitor. You want to know the real reason behind that belief of yours. It is simply because I'm not like the rest of the Death Eaters. I don't do your will, I don't submit myself to you. The reason being is because you don't frighten me like you do them. I'm no at weak minded as they and you are. So take your bag of tricks over to the next house that may not see right through it, because I won't be taken as your or any body else's fool and as for Greyback bring him here if you must. I wasn't afraid to use the killing curse on Dumbledore and I'm definitely not afraid to use it on some rabid little dog."
He placed his right hand on her shoulder. It was a gentle movement. It was his last attempt at making peace with an old, demented fool. Though he was well aware that she would see it as a threat. At the moment he didn't care. He was enjoying the moment.
[Sorry it sucks, but I did mention I'm muse-less at the moment.]

To say that she wasn’t in his highest position of trust would be farce and without any logical base. She was his most loyal lieutenant whether this small-minded wizard wanted to admit it or not. It may have been very true that the Dark Lord used and abused his minions, but this was not of importance to Bellatrix. She did not care if her master used whatever she could provide for him. This to her was the greatest compliment. If he cared enough to use her power, strength and natural ability then to her that was the best thing he could do.
Yes he was cruel, but that was the name of the game in these dark times. It was the era of the snake and all things that hissed were deemed good and all those that roared were deemed bad. That being said, Bellatrix was about to hiss louder than any roar his feeble man could produce. “You don’t owe me?!” She screamed so loud there was no doubt that anyone directly outside the office would have heard it. “You are mistaken, you feeble minded fool. You owe me everything! I can tell the Dark Lord of your status as a spy FOR Dumbledore and you will be buried beside him!” Still with the screaming, only now it was followed by heavy breathing. When she got worked up, she got worked up. “You call my capture dumb?! Let me remind you what it was I was doing when I was captured. I was looking for MY Lord.” She purposefully said MY lord instead of OUR lord so as to add to the fire of his being a spy. “We are ignorant?! No it is you that are ignorant. We devoted our lives to The Dark Lord, even in the pits of that eternal hell.” She took a deep breath here, preparing to explode. “You? You wallowed in the luxury of this castle, never leaving its safe walls to find the man to whom you say your alliance is pledged.” “So tell me now who is ignorant.” “What position Severus?! You helped him kill Dumbledore. So what? It would have been done anyways. That is the only thing in your entire time of service to this man that you have done for him. THE ONLY THING! You name one other thing you have done! Name it! Being a spy for both teams doesn’t count either as it both helped and hindered and that is not a service committed.” On a side note, as he moved she was carefully watching him. She had her hand on her wand on the inside of her cloak and at a moment’s notice could and would pull it out. She would not hesitate to kill this man if he attacked her first. The only reason she hadn’t yet was because her Lord still found him useful, but she would never let him know that. “You ask what can I do? How dare you demean my service. I have been here the longest out of those today and will continue to be here the longest. I am his guard, his loyal lieutenant. I am his sidekick, and that is more than I can say for you, you filthy minion. “The mere utterance of my name strikes fear into the hearts of many and that, Severus, is power. To have such control over the emotions of others that all one must do is speak my name and the listener will break, is power. Let’s see if yours does the same.” “Severus Snape… Nope not a damn thing. Oh no he might expel me from Hogwarts. What a horrible fate I better bend to your ways since you said his name.” Her sarcasm was peaking here. “You and your small time affliction. You believe yourself to have been through so much it is unbearable to those of us who have been truly afflicted. “ “You have to mean the killing curse for it to truly be remarkable. You were so in love with the old fool that it was sickening even if he wasn’t my enemy. You will never master the Unforgivable Curses, Severus, because you are weakened by emotions.” The hand was the final straw. She whipped out her wand and put it directly underneath his neck. She wasn’t touching him, but she was as close as humanly possible to doing so. She also placed her hand around his wrist and put on the most serious face she had used yet. “I will snap it off.” She heaved slowly and eerily. “I’m not leaving now for sure.” This man truly thought she was going somewhere, but it was not about to happen. Not now for sure. This was going to be a long and eventful day and the sooner he accepted that the quicker it would be over.

Why of all these days did this annoyance of a woman have to come to the castle? He was certain that she was here with out the Dark Lord's permission. Simply because he had heard the Dark Lord giving her orders to stay away. If it hadn't been so, then she would have been one of the Professors that he had to deal with on a day to day basis or she would have even been in the very position that he now held, however this was not the case. Reason being that the Dark Lord was a capable man with a mind that always seemed to be calculating on how things and situations would better serve him and Severus was certain that he knew that a mad woman among children would not serve him best. There was something about this school that the Dark Lord and Severus Snape held in common. Something that the likes of Bellatrix Lestrange would never understand, and for the moment that seemed to better serve the Dark Lord.
The only response that came from Severus as he listened to the rantings of Bellatrix was a laugh. He was so tired of trying to break through her thick skull. In this moment she reminded him so of the likes of Goyle. Over the years of teaching that child nothing had ever sunk in. Simply because the child was as moronic and thick skulled as his father had always been and was still today. Then his laugh grew louder and more obnoxious as a picture of Neville Longbottom popped into his mind and he could actually see an uncanny resemblance between the useless pure-blood and the warp-minded person before him. A resemblance of the mind that was, yet her shrill shrieking reminded Severus more of the boy than anything. Simply because in her attempt to scare Severus it merely looked idiotic and that was always the way he saw Neville Longbottom, not to mention always lost in his own little world, which was the status Bellatrix was in at the moment.
Then as suddenly as he had started laughing, it stopped, yet the smirk was held fast on his mouth. "Oh. You mean you want to go to the Dark Lord and tell him I am a spy and with the case against me that he has already excuse me on after everything has already been explained, and in which I have already been forgiven and excused. Which in turn means that you doubt the Dark Lord's decision and choices. Which in turn means that you are as faithful a follower as well...a rat. Go ahead Bellatrix. I'm sure the Dark Lord would be delighted to hear that he's judgment is incorrect."
Her movement was fast. He felt her hand clasping around his wrist and twisting as his black eyes gazed down at the wand she held at his throat. His nostrils flared in anger of her action, as his eyes darkened with pure hatred. Severus stepped toward her wand, so that it dug into the skin of his neck.
"And I am the one you call coward." He spat the words at her face, never flinching.
